In a development that reflects growing momentum in bilateral economic relations, the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) facilitated an engagement between the Embassy of Gabon and Allana Group, one of India’s leading players in the agri and food processing sector. The visit marked a promising step toward strengthening trade linkages between India and Gabon, particularly in the domain of food security and agri-industrial collaboration.
The diplomatic delegation, led by H.E. Guy Rodrigue Dikayi, undertook a comprehensive visit to Allana Group’s integrated poultry operations in Belgaum, Maharashtra, gaining first-hand insight into India’s advanced capabilities in poultry production, processing, and value-chain integration.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the delegation to understand the scale, efficiency, and technological sophistication of India’s poultry ecosystem. From feed processing and quality control systems to end-to-end meat processing operations, the visit showcased a highly integrated and globally aligned model of agri-processing. The discussions that followed reflected a shared interest in exploring structured collaboration in poultry trade and broader agricultural engagement.
Reflecting on the visit, H.E. Guy Rodrigue Dikayi remarked,
“India’s capabilities in integrated food processing and poultry production are highly impressive. We see strong potential for collaboration that can contribute meaningfully to Gabon’s food security priorities while creating sustainable trade linkages between our countries. We are seeking several partners who seek Gabon as a long-term collaborator.”
India’s strength in agri-processing, supported by robust infrastructure and growing export capabilities, positions it as a reliable partner in global food supply chains. At the same time, Gabon’s increasing focus on food security, import diversification, and strengthening domestic supply systems presents a strong case for long-term cooperation. This alignment creates a natural pathway for partnership between the two countries.
A key outcome of the engagement was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LOI), outlining the intent to facilitate the supply of poultry products and to further develop the necessary infrastructure to support sustained trade between the two sides.
Emphasizing the strategic importance of this step, Mr. Moiz Chunawala, Director of Strategic Business Development, noted,
“This collaboration represents a strategic opportunity to expand India’s food export footprint while building reliable supply chains tailored to the needs of emerging markets such as Gabon. Our focus remains on quality, scalability, and long-term partnership.”
Adding to this, Mr. Affan Haris, who leads international affairs at Allana Foods, stated,
“Gabon represents a promising and strategically important market for India’s agri and food exports. Through this engagement, we see the opportunity to build structured, long-term supply partnerships that are aligned with Gabon’s food security objectives while leveraging India’s strengths in quality production, compliance, and global distribution networks. Our focus is on creating sustainable and scalable export frameworks that deliver consistent value to both sides.”
The interaction also led to a forward-looking understanding between stakeholders, reflecting a clear intent to explore trade opportunities and facilitate structured market entry. The response from the Gabonese side signals confidence in India’s agri-export capabilities and the potential for Indian enterprises to contribute meaningfully to evolving food supply requirements in the region.
Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the Indian Economic Trade Organization, stated,
“This engagement reflects the growing importance of connecting industry capabilities with diplomatic outreach. At IETO, we remain committed to facilitating partnerships that not only strengthen trade relations but also contribute to long-term, sustainable economic cooperation between nations.”
The role of the Indian Economic Trade Organization in enabling this engagement highlights its continued commitment to advancing economic diplomacy and fostering connections between governments and industry. By creating platforms for dialogue and collaboration, IETO plays an important role in strengthening India’s international trade partnerships.
This engagement reflects a broader shift towards building long-term, sustainable partnerships that extend beyond immediate trade. As India and Gabon continue to explore new avenues of cooperation, such initiatives contribute to a more resilient, interconnected, and mutually beneficial economic relationship.
