The India ASEAN Trade Council (IATC) marked its presence at the 2026 Global Business Awards held in Malaysia, demonstrating its continued support for international trade collaboration and multilateral economic engagement. Organized by BRICS ASEAN, the event brought together government representatives, trade councils, industry leaders, and global investors, creating a platform for dialogue on cross-border investment, innovation, and sustainable economic development.
The event saw participation from distinguished dignitaries. Hon. Shanmugam Mookan, Special Officer to the Prime Minister of Malaysia, stated,
“Malaysia remains committed to strengthening its position as a dynamic hub for international trade and investment. Platforms such as these play an important role in fostering meaningful partnerships and enabling sustainable economic growth across regions.”
YB Dr. Gunarajah George, Host City Representative and State Assemblyman, Sentosa, Klang, emphasized,
“Klang and the state of Selangor continue to evolve as key centers for trade and industry. Engagements of this nature contribute significantly to enhancing regional connectivity and creating opportunities for inclusive economic development.”
With participation from representatives across ASEAN member states and BRICS economies, the forum reflected growing alignment among emerging markets and the increasing importance of South-South cooperation. The presence of investment promotion agencies, like Invest Selangor Berhad, further highlighted Malaysia’s role as a destination for global investment, enabling greater interaction between policymakers and business leaders.
Representing the United Diplomatic Council, Wali Kashvi highlighted,
“These global engagements reflect a larger vision of building structured and long-term economic partnerships. They serve as important extensions of broader initiatives aimed at strengthening international collaboration and enabling sustainable growth across emerging markets.” IETO Director Suresh Kumar was also present at the forum, contributing to the wider institutional engagement.
Events such as the Global Business Awards are a reflection of the broader vision driven by the United Economic Summit which is set to take place in November in Klang, Malaysia, will further advance dialogue, partnerships, and cross-border investment opportunities.
