
Vinayak Menon from Kerala was appointed as the Honorary Trade Commissioner of the India Africa Trade Council-Tanzania and his appointment comes on the sidelines of the trade delegation to Tanzania to promote further people to people relations in sectors like Agriculture, IT, Education, Pharmaceuticals and Cashew plantations. Vinayak Menon brings in talent and aquisition in the IT sector and he will have his focus entirely on operational responsibilities assigned to him by the council to promote bilateral trade between both countries.
“The council has accepted the appointment of Vinayak Menon as Trade Commissioner of the Council and supports him in all his endeavours in bridging the business between the two countries” said Maria Oliver, the secretary general of the India Africa Trade Council in a regulatory update.
“The Council remains on a firm footing and is taking all the necessary steps to build a robust foundation for its future. In order to ensure we maintain a sharp focus on achieving our targeted aspirations, the core businesses require dedicated time and energy which can only be achieved in an operational capacity with such delegations going to African countries.” said the Chairman of the Energy Committee Dr. Oscar Kerketta IFS and the former Indian Ambassador to Rwanda.
The visit of Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania undertook a State Visit to the Republic of India from 8-10 October 2023. H.E. President Samia Suluhu Hassan was accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Hon. January Makamba (MP), and other members from different sectors, Senior Government Officials as well as members of the Tanzania Business Community. The visit has kickstarted the people to people relations and given an impetus to building bridges.
Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Anisa Kapufi Mbega appreicated the role played by the council and wished the Trade commissioner successful tenure and pledged her support to all the necessary mechanisms needed for India Tanzania business relations. She assumed charge of the post of High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to India with multiple accreditations to the Republic of Singapore, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and in the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.
She joined the Tanzanian Foreign Service in January 1999 and has served at the Tanzanian Foreign Affairs Ministry before being posted at the High Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania in Kampala, Uganda from 2011 until 2013. In 2013, she rejoined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation as Assistant Director, the post she held until the end of 2015.
Mrs. Mbega was appointed in September 2015 to the rank of Ambassador and became Director in the Department of Diaspora and Engagement Opportunities in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the post she held until her appointment as the High Commissioner to India.
Hon. Vinayak Menon is taking a large delegation from Kerala to explore areas with KELTRON from Kerala and other major business houses in the state.
