New Delhi, India: The United Diplomatic Council, in association with The Diplomatist, hosted a distinguished Diplomatic Evening that brought together ambassadors, diplomats, trade representatives, policymakers, business leaders, and members of the diplomatic fraternity from across the globe.
The gathering witnessed the participation of representatives from a diverse range of countries, including Mauritius, Finland, the Republic of Korea, Uganda, Papua New Guinea, Chad, Lesotho, Kyrgyzstan, Guinea, Cameroon, Brazil, and several other diplomatic missions. Senior officials from various Indian ministries, trade commissioners, industry leaders, and representatives of business organizations from across India were also present, reflecting the growing convergence of diplomacy, trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
A key highlight of the evening was the launch of the India Africa Magazine by The Diplomatist, a publication dedicated to fostering deeper engagement between India and African nations through trade, investment, diplomacy, innovation, and cultural exchange.
Speaking during the launch, Linda Hawke ,Publisher, Diplomatist Magazine, emphasized the power of informed dialogue and responsible media in strengthening international partnerships.
“In an increasingly interconnected world, informed dialogue is essential for fostering cooperation and addressing shared challenges. Publications such as India Africa Magazine serve as valuable platforms for highlighting opportunities, sharing perspectives, and building stronger connections between governments, businesses, institutions, and communities across regions.”
The evening highlighted the growing importance of diplomacy not only as a tool for political engagement but also as a catalyst for economic growth, trade expansion, investment promotion, and sustainable development. Throughout the event, delegates engaged in meaningful discussions on international trade, emerging markets, technology partnerships, food security, innovation, sustainable development, and cross-border investment opportunities.
Representing the High Commission of Uganda in India, H.E. Prof. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda noted :
“India and Uganda share a long-standing partnership built on mutual respect, economic cooperation, and people-to-people connections. As Africa continues its remarkable growth trajectory, stronger collaboration with India across trade, investment, technology, healthcare, and education will create sustainable opportunities that benefit both our regions.”
Mr. Hissein Oumar Seidou, First Counsellor, Embassy of Chad to India, highlighted the importance of strengthening engagement between India and Africa through practical partnerships, investment-driven cooperation, and sustainable economic development.
Discussing opportunities in agricultural cooperation and sustainable development, Mr. Roberto Carlos Razera Papa, Agricultural Attaché, Embassy of Brazil, highlighted the importance of knowledge exchange, innovation, and technology transfer in strengthening global food systems.
The interactions throughout the evening provided Indian businesses with valuable opportunities to connect with international partners and gain insights into emerging markets across Africa, Central Asia, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region. The event reinforced the growing role of business diplomacy in creating pathways for trade, investment, and long-term economic partnerships.
