In a forward-looking step toward strengthening India’s international trade architecture, the SCO Trade Council and the India Commonwealth Trade Council (ICTC) signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding aimed at expanding commercial engagement, technological cooperation, and cross-border investments. The agreement was signed between Mr. Parmod Kumar, Honorary Trade Commissioner for the SCO region for Delhi, and Mr. Viral Chaudhary, Chairman of ICTC Gujarat, marking a significant alignment between two influential trade platforms.
The MoU reflects a shared vision of positioning Indian enterprises more prominently within the SCO region while simultaneously deepening linkages across Commonwealth markets. The scope of discussion during the signing was extensive and future-oriented, identifying technology as the central pillar of collaboration. Key sectors explored included agritech and advanced agricultural innovation, missile systems and anti-drone technology, broader defense and defense technology partnerships, and structured skill development initiatives designed to build globally competitive human capital. Strategic collaboration frameworks with Russia were also discussed as part of a wider industrial and technological engagement strategy.

Sustainability and industrial expansion were equally central to the dialogue. Bio-disposable and biodegradable plate manufacturing emerged as an area of opportunity aligned with global environmental priorities. Discussions further extended to food, FMCG, and packaged goods trade, strengthening supply chains in tractor manufacturing and agricultural equipment, and expanding cooperation in the electric vehicle ecosystem.
While the sectors identified are diverse, they converge around a unified objective: enabling Indian businesses to expand confidently into the SCO region by leveraging technology partnerships, industrial collaboration, and structured trade facilitation mechanisms. The MoU aims not only to enhance trade volumes but also to stimulate innovation exchange, co-development opportunities, and deeper economic integration across participating nations.
This MoU represents more than a formal agreement; it reflects a strategic intent to build resilient supply chains, accelerate technology-led growth, and create structured pathways for Indian industry to participate more actively in emerging global corridors. By aligning regional strengths with innovation-driven collaboration, the partnership sets the stage for deeper economic diplomacy and sustained cross-border growth.
