The President of the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) had a fruitful meeting with the Ambassador of Zimbabwe in the United Arab Emirates His Excellency Ambassador Lovemore Mazemo.
Ambassador has said that the UAE and Zimbabwe have a growing relationship, with bilateral trade reaching US$2 billion in 2022.
“We are pleased to see that Zimbabwean products have begun to make their way into the UAE market, and we can work closely together in the area of food security.” he said.
Ambassador Mazemo explained that both countries are working to develop a number of sectors, including agriculture, mining, and energy. He noted that Zimbabwean investors are looking to expand their businesses in the food and agriculture sector in the UAE, and that Emirati investors are interested in expanding their businesses in Zimbabwe in a number of areas, including gold. He explained that precious metals, gold, and diamonds currently account for about 80 percent of trade between the two countries, followed by agricultural and food products.
Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of the IETO, briefed the Ambassador on the various projects undertaken by Zimbabwe India Trade Council(ZITC), including the various Indian delegations to Zimbabwe and the incoming visits of Her Excellency First lady of Zimbabwe last year.
He briefed about the huge Indian diaspora in the UAE that is looking at expanding to Zimbabwe using the UAE as a springboard. With easy access to daily flights, Dubai it is an ideal point for various business collaborations.
Major trilateral collaborations are expected in the coming months with India UAE Zimbabwe coming together for joint business mechanisms in investing in Zimbabwe.
